12 Days of Christmas for DominoArt

Welcome and Merry Christmas!  Thanks to the Queen and her very helpful helper bees for hosting this wonderful event!  I made my project the first week of November and it put me in such a holiday spirit:)  So on to the project.....
Supplies:
Giant pieces puzzle
White and blue acrylic paint
Large paint brush
Images from Deary Dolls (such fab stamps and so many freebies I can't keep up!)
Promarkers
Plastic snowflakes in different sizes and colors
Glue
Silver glitter glue
Silver and gold gel pens

I painted the background blue and white.  I did not count on the puzzle pieces swelling slightly and that is why they do not fit together nicely in the photo but as I was going to use them for ornaments it didn't bother me:)  Each image was shrunk to fit the puzzle (I wanted a day on each piece but the puzzle said NO!) and colored with my little 6 Promarkers...they earned their price on this project alone.  I kept the 1st day image larger for the center piece.  Then each day was fussy cut..ugh!..and glued around the 1st day in order...basically/kinda.  Then I added silver glitter glue for snow and put the larger snowflakes on the bulging, swollen connections of my pieces for a camo hide.  I took day 3 and hot glued my ribbon hanger on the back.  And that was the whole project.  Easy, peasy!  A little not what I was going for but it kinda grew on me.  I am planning on having a tree just for these ornaments.  Here are a few more pics and then I am heading to see what the Queen and her sister have made....so excited!

Smeared and Smudged November Blog Hop "Am I That Transparent"

I took the theme pretty literally:)  But I had the fab "Luna" image from Smeared Ink and had been waiting for just the right time to use it.  I had pondered on Terra's challenge statements and decided to express some of the thoughts that we hide behind beautiful hair, make-up, and clothes.  So I used the image twice: once on a semi-transparent paper and colored with Promarkers and then just printed out on copy paper.  I wrote the words on the plain printed one...trying to figure out some of those thoughts cause they were even hidden to me.  I used both positive and negative thoughts.  I attached both images with my tape runner so that it can be flipped up to show the second page and to secure it to the card stock I put both onto and added two pink bows.   Really simple process that made me think about myself and my "hidden" thoughts.  Thanks to Terra for the challenge; I loved thinking of the many ways it could be used and am looking forward to visiting my friends to the right to see their interpretation of this.  Now go see Kim's awesome blog..tell her I said Hi! :)

A Day for Daisies Krafty Tag Challenge #108

11/11/2014

I just found the wonderful "A Day for Daisies" blog and stamps.  I do not have any of their stamps yet but took advantage of their great freebie image to make my card.  I used kraft and gold background paper with green bazzil paper layered on to that.  I colored the image on kraft paper from a roll with Promarkers and fussy cut it out...loosely:) and glued it onto the same paper tag as the letters are cut from.  The letters are from my cricut.  I used a very old paint chip "tag" from my hoard of stashes and colored it orange with my Promarker and from a die cut run through my embossing machine...not supposed to work and NOT recommended by me but was in a bind!!...of flowers layered with leaves glued on to the tag.  I had some silver stickers that I used of a water pump and some bees, butterflies, and pots and I colored with my gold gel pen cause I didn't like the silver against the kraft paper.  The odd shaped little blobs on the tag and bottom are fuse beads melted in a failed trial test but I like them so I am using them.  That is pretty much it!  I plan on getting more complicated but after the 31 Days of Halloween I am taking the easy approach for right now.  I am just trying to do justice to the wonderful images offered for the challenges.

Celebrate!!  Challenge #53 at Left of Center

The theme is "celebrate" what a wonderful theme for this time of year!  I started off with the cute little Hello Kitty with balloons from the cricut and it kinda morphed into a mixture of Christmas colors and balloons and twinkle lights and stars....soooo what is it now?  You will have to make that call!  The process is really just some images and letters from the cricut and circles from a piece of paper and a stamp set that contained the string of lights and star.  Add a gold gel pen for doodling (is that spelled right?  looks wrong!) and a gold ink pad and a light blue pad to ink the page edges and some glue.  Celebrate!  You are done!

Happy Crafting!

Thank You for Our Freedom!  Simon Says Wednesday Challenge and Crafter's Anonymous Challenge #19 For All You Do, Thank You

This card may not fit the challenges but to me it epitomizes the true meaning of thank you to someone who has done something meaningful for you.  Our service men and women have given so much even their lives for my freedom!  I can make crafts and cards only because I live in freedom and freedom cannot be taken for granted nor the people who I count on to protect that freedom.  I am truly thankful and should always be thinking of them but as we all do it takes a holiday to sometimes bring things to the fore front of our minds; however they are always in my prayers.  So today I challenge each person who reads this post or looks at this card to take a moment to remember and thank those who have gone before us and those serving our country now.
The deets are very few on this card.  The flag and sentiment came from a wonderful lady's blog (got to start writing these down...the memory is terrible thought I had this one down!) she posted it as a color sheet with a place for student's to sign their name...how wonderful!!  I used the cricket for the sentiment "thinking of you" and stamped the same in black on the bottom border.  I used the same stamp on the red and white part of the background and stamped randomly with blue ink.  The coloring is with Promarkers and I put a little striped punched heart on the flag.  Some gold gel pen doodling along the edges and heart in the sentiment and some glitter glue on  the stars was all there was to it!

Pumpkin Girl Trick or Treat Ike's World Challenge #26

This is a wonderful image from Ike that I won....how fabulous!  I used yellow card stock for a base with a multicolored dot pattern paper inside that yellow and yellow and green cardstock embossed with a steampunk gear folder (also the sentiment was stamped on a piece of orange embossed with that folder) then glued to the outside edge and bottom.  I tried my own enamel dots by melting some fuse beads (supposed to use perler beads...oops) and they ended up really funky looking and I liked them! So three orange ones went on the fold edge.  The sentiment by the gorgeous lady came with her along with four other trick or treat sentiments in different fonts.  I have used these sentiments sooo much since I got them, if you don't have her get her!  Lots of uses from one digital stamp!  I colored it with a Promarker.  The embellishment at the top was an earring that I loved when I had two....still love it but unfortunately it was not the kind you could pair with another earring:(  So on the card it went with its lovely dangly spiders (I did not glue them down; they swing about happily!).  Lastly, some odds and ends cogs and a Chinese money charm were glued to the bottom corner.  I wanted a steampunk feel to her and I think the mix worked pretty well!  Probably wouldn't send this card to grandmother...hehehe!!

Happy Crafting and thanks so much Ike for you awesome images<hugs>!

Simon Says Monday Challenge "Good Ole Days" Gone With the Wind" Book Card

This is a wonderful free image from Deary Dolls Stamps.  I used the full image on the inside of the card in the book frame and fussy cut the mouse couple out and glued onto a free image from the web of the book cover.  I used some gold ribbon and tied a bow and made a flower out of vellum paper dampened and crumpled up and the petal circles put together with a fluer de lis brad.  I colored the images with Promarkers and stamped the thanks sentiment, fluer de lis's, and texture stamp with gold ink.  I stamped three butterflies with black ink and colored them with markers and them inked over them, adding wire antenna and gold gel pen accents.  I punched three deep red shiny hearts and doodles one of them with my gold gel pen and I accented parts of the images with it.  The book part of the card is from a tutorial on YouTube that basically consists of accordian folding four pieces of cardstock and fitting them like a picture frame.  I used the specialty edge scissors to cute the front fold and inked with black.  I thought this was a movie from the Good Ole Days movie stars; hope you enjoy!

Happy Crafting see you next Monday!

Ike's World Challenge #25 Trick or Treat/Halloween

This one was a quickie from a black scrap piece of paper I had that was even scored in the right place to make this card!  I colored the images with Promarkers and colored pencils.  The white card stock is embossed with as close to a bubble effect as I had and inked in light green.  I put the outside sentiment half off the front flap so that it would cover the inside stamped sentiment Happy Halloween.  I used the same magic potion stamp and cut it out and glued to be coming out of the cauldron and then place on the belly band so that it covered the bottom stamp when in place.  As always, lovely and wonderful image and a freebie!! from Ike and the sentiment comes from the pumpkin girl Trick or Treat image that comes with 4 or 5 different fonts for Trick or Treat.  I have used them each on a project already and I have only had them less than a week!

Thank You Card for Aurora Wings Challenge #18 and Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge "Anything Goes"

This is a thank you card using two digi stamps: the cutie gardener is a wonderful freebie from Deary Dolls Stamps and the sentiment is a freebie from Tiddly Inks I think(!).  I also used three tiny rubber stamps for the flower border and the center of the sun which also says hello on the flower.  And fitting the challenge at Aurora Wings, I stamped "Thanks" from a rubber stamp with a border around it.  I colored the Deary Dolls Stamp with Promarkers from my whole set of six!! and colored pencils.  The background is white cardstock with flecks of color woven in it and I inked the blue for the sky and some green above the green cardstock that was cut with special edge scissors I have had forever.  The sentiment was printed on a piece of bright green cardstock and I used the Fiskars template to cut out a flower/sun shape which I edged with an orange Promarker.  Glued everything down and that was it!  Hope you enjoyed the slightly boring details:).
Happy Crafting and come back to see what's next!

This is a kraft gift bag loaded with layers of card stock, a vintage type image (freebie from web from my stash), torn dictionary page strips and rosettes, stamped sentiment (from Michael's dollar bin), trick and treat digi from Ike's, black mesh from packaging, small pumpkin center of rosette from same packaging label, black raven freebie image from web from my stash cut from black card stock, red glitter glue, stenciled pumpkins using stencil from Dreamweaver's Stencils, Promarker coloring, green fiber bow on handle, pumpkin head freebie from web from my stash altered to fit under witch's hat on vintage image, and a piece of Recollections paper from the "Midnight Magic Halloween" collection.  Whew!  Long sentence but basically all the deets of this trick or treat bag.  I was trying for a vintage look on my trick or treat bag and this little image seemed perfect for it!  I tried to keep everything else on the page with that theme and the trick or treat theme and lots of layers to fit the Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge.  Hope you enjoy!
