Design Team Project for Quoth the Raven Challenge #40 "Snow - Poe"

1/8/2015

First I would like to welcome you to my blog and thank Ike for allowing me to be on the Quoth the Raven design team!  I am super excited and so happy to be on the team with Ike, Black Dragon, Jane, Fiona, Shell, and Kay!  Now to my project for #40 which is "Snow Poe" white on white with one other color.  The details will be under the pics....
I used a pretty blue piece of  card stock from my stash and cut the gate, grassy tombstones and picture frame (which reminded me of a snowflake) from my cricut using the Happy Hauntings cartridge from white card stock.  I was wandering through some poems of Edgar Allen Poe and stumbled upon  "Fairy Land".  The portion I used for my page was this:" Of those butterflies, Of Earth, who see the skies, And so come down again (Never - contented thing!) Have brought a specimen Upon their quivering wings."  So that is where the butterflies come from on a Poe project!  I triple stamped the butterflies, inked, fussy cut, and glued the first and attached the other two with foam dots.  The raven on the tree limb is from Ike's wonderful image "Poe Bust" and I cut two of him again inking, fuzzy cutting, gluing the first one down and attaching the top one with foam dots.  I also used a lot of Dimensional Magic to the top butterflies, top raven, parts of the fence and tombstones, the word "Hello" , the picture frame, and the tree limb.  I know it is kinda a departure from most Poe projects but I wanted to showcase a more obscure part of his work and the butterflies pulled me to this one.  I had wanted something about snow but found this one first and it sort of put itself together.  I love it when that happens!

So pick up some paper and glue and start on YOUR  Snow - Poe project!  We can't wait to see it and you know you want to win:)  Check back to the blog page for weekly inspiration from the design team...you won't be disappointed!
Happy Crafting and get busy!!

I am jumping in at the almost end with my cards for week 16.  I have week 17 's cards backgrounds done waiting to put images on.  I have been so inspired by all  of your fabulous creations!!  So here they are: stamped tissue paper over red with skull from "Graphic Fairy" and treasure chest from Tiddly Inks or the Paper Shelter (think it was the first!) with seed beads applied over glossy accents in the chest, colored with Bic Mark Its and stamped tissue paper over lilac with sentiments from  "Graphic Fairy" and a web freebie skull and book with candle.  I used Crackle Accents on the chest and skull and book.  The sentiments are on a strip of foam adhesive.  Such fun!!

Ike's Fabulous Art Card

12/30/2014

This card came out of a thought while looking at the top smushed little fellow and the zombie pig.  You know everyone needs someone that can understand their situation and I think these two can definitely feel each other's pain!  The little tire track guy was a freebie from Ike's Fan Art page on Facebook I am pretty sure...you should go over there and join lots of fun and inspiration going on!  Ike also gives you a freebie to participate in her challenges at Ike's World Challenge blog to fit the theme as you have to use an Ike's image to be able to win.  I have gotten some lovelies from there!  So, I colored both the guys with Bic Mark Its and glued that great black and white pattern paper from Paper Studio onto a piece of gold and black card stock.  The top image was printed on cardstock and I colored gray around the image and glued to the chevron pattern.  The black "enamel" dots are my homemade goodies...melted pony beads!  The bottom guy is fussy cut and glued onto an animal print then adhered to the chevron patterned paper.  Again my faux enamel dots.  If you look closely you can see I even used some from a burned batch of dots...I put a black and a tanish dot that ran together and kinda bubbled up under the piggy's tail.  You can use your imagination for why they are there:)  I also used 2 different ribbons and glued a bow on the top ribbon.  I constructed this card by making 2 cubes out of paper and using score tape taped the top and bottom of the card to them.  The cubes are scored so they will fold down and I made a "z" shaped paper strip to hold it where I wanted it when extended.  I love animals, I really do....I just had some fun with Ike's images...my grandpuppy is reclining on the couch with me as I type!

Happy crafting and have fun making something today!

Left of Center Oddball Art Co. Challenge #61 Theme Animal Instincts

12/29/2014

Here is my project using an image from Oddball Art Co. for challenge number 61 at Left of Center theme " Animal Instinct".  A few facts about the origins of my mail box....it started out as a purse made from a 8 x 11 1/2 inch page with no cutting.  Started is the key word, quickly went downhill and I was thrilled when I was able to salvage a rectangular box with my lovely paper that I had my heart set on using with this little lovely!  The little cute cloud is from Etsy as is Oddball Art Company, so the rain/foaming mouth and umbrella brought my rainy day mail box to life.  I needed one for my desk, not the bland, blah ones that I was seeing, so I love how this turned out and it fills the bill for my desk!
Now for details:
1.  Image is from Oddball Art Co. Big Eye Zombie Girl image No. 49 by Lizzy Love available at their Etsy store.  She is colored using Bic Mark its, a product pretty new to me and I am learning daily new things about how to use them, but for cost they are a wonderful marker.  She is fussy cut and glued onto the right corner of the box.

2.  The left side of the front of the box has a piece of Washi Tape ( my first time ever using it..Thanks, Kim!) and a piece of white, texture tape under my sentiment.  I put a white piece of card stock as the base with doodles and inked with Distress inks.  Then came a piece of corrugated paper with the sentiment stamped with black ink and ki alphabet stamp set.  I inked the edges of the word strip  gluing everything down.

3.  I cut an additional piece of the beautiful paper on the left side after coloring and gluing the cloud onto it.  I added some cut outs the black raven and the bat.

4. Glossy accents on eyes, little bunny, rain drops, etc.  I put 3 homemade enamel dots in descending order from the texture tape toward the cutie.

5.  Just  looked it up and ...ta da! the little cloud is also from Oddball Art Co. bought months ago!  and is Image No. 63 Creepy Cute Zombie Cloud by Lizzy Love.  How odd and wonderful!

The only other supply used was Scotch Clear Glue in 2-Way Applicator which I love. And that is all the deets!  Mistake turned into much wanted item...a good day!

Happy Crafting and get busy on your project for this challenge:)

Day 12!!!! of Creepmas for Smeared and Smudged

12/23/2014

In almost 31 Days of Halloween style, I am leaving Creepmas with a tribute to my well used, treasured Smeared Ink digi stamps!  I took a pre-made garland (another dollar find at Target) and shrunk, colored with Bic Markits, and fussy cut the images and clipped to the little sleighs!  The very last clip is a separate project as it is not a Smeared Ink stamp but I needed something on the last clip.....sorry!  But you can ignore that I just didn't want you to think I stamped and cut out "Merry Creepmas" from my Barn Door Distress Ink pad onto  white and then misspelled it.  Soooo...the very last photo is where it now hangs proudly for Creepmas in my house in a dimly lit office/hall area...most of my home is dimly lit (hides the dust so I can play  with my stamps..hehe!).  Once again didn't figure the logistics for photos so they are not that great...as usual!  So thank you for your kind and gracious comments and thank you ladies for the fabulous inspiration you have provided me this hop and everyday at Smeared and Smudged and fabulous challenges that we meet at!

Happy Crafting and Merry Creepmas and Very, Very, Merry Christmas/Holidays to all and to all a good night/good morning!  Lots of love and hugs from my family to yours!  Yoshi is feeling better and sends love and thanks for the kind thoughts!!

Day 11 of Creepmas for Smeared and Smudged

Sorry, not deets or the rest of pics.  Got a sick Yoshi, love, just got back from vet......it's 2:00 am.  Gotta run take care of my baby
Well, it's 9:00 and my little heart is doing better!  He has a bad back on top of his gastro issues and in his excitement for me to mush his dinner last night jumped and messed his back up!  Hoping the meds will calm it down and no more surgery this year.  Sorry for the dramatic post last night but I had one thing on my mind....Yoshi!
So in a calmer spirit I will add a few photos and details...very self-explanatory for you all but the main thing is that this was an old plastic Christmas serving tray I didn't even have to paint the border! and the fab images of Teri, Rick, Ike's, and a web freebie spider!  The other important thing is never give a newbie to embossing glue, gold embossing powder, a gun, and a few minutes extra time!  Looks like the glue gun threw up gold glitter!!  Sorry, I will try to have more restraint in the future!  Some glue, Bic Markit's, and that is that!
Thanks for the love you have shown up this Creepmas!  Keep it up for my friends two more days and it will be Christmas/Creepmas/Your Holiday!
Happy Crafting and Merry Creepmas!  P.S. My computer will not let me load my last three photos..oh well! Ho, Ho, Ho!!

Day 10 of Creepmas for Smeared and Smudged

Another recycled package....from the new "fuse" gel nail polish starter kit.  The polish kit is fabulous and the empty package is even more fabulous!  I used Rick's rat carrying creature colored with Bic Markits, Diamond Accents, green glitter glue, and fussy cut and glued on to the front of the package.  Whew!  That took a lot out of me!  Slowly now, I put some of my melted glow in the dark beads on the front with some lovely rats!  This packaging mimicked a pop up box without the movement so I just layered the stuff in!  A Cricut cut old gate with distress inks and a black cat and another rat! hehehe!  Then comes the Christmas tree with lots of embossing!  Behind that come "Merry Creepmas!" printed in PhotoShop and edged with barn red distress inks and a black rat on it.  I covered the sides with blue glitter foam to show on the inside and red glitter foam on the outside...so glitter all around.  Some distressed looking card stock on the flaps and some faux snow on the inside....that is it!  The lair of the beast!
You are running out of time to show your love to my friends to the right so it's LOVE time!!

Happy Crafting and Merry Creepmas!!

Yes, she has officially celebrated a tad too much!  This lovely hot mess is the Drunken Elfen from Smeared Ink.  She is colored with Bic Markits and fussy cut and popped on top of a packaging material to make her stand out.  The glasses and sentiments and some bubbles are embossed...was supposed to be platinum which I though would be whiter?  Correct me if I am wrong.  I used crackle texture  paste for the "Holiday Greetings" and her fluffy parts.  My sentiment for her is Tim Holtz's letters on white card stock layered on black card stock.  The base is Christmas paper dots on black, and two pieces of 6 x 6 inch pieces layered on black.  The packaging bit of paper is colored with distress inks smeared around and that is what covers the overlapping of the 6 x 6 papers.
Happy Crafting and Merry Creepmas!!

Another fab image from Teri at Delicious Doodles at Left of Center!  Can you guess?  Another wonderful package that a cell phone cover came in....I used this part and have another lovely bit to use later!  The image is colored with Bic Markits and the photo was kinda hard to take due to the clear plastic front.  I added some distressed Christmas papers at top and sides and the belly band was already there!! I just added an embossed sentiment.  This wonderful image colors itself!  If you want to get started with all this fun; this is the image to do it with!  Absolutely fun to the max!

Happy Crafting and Merry Creepmas!!!
