As most of you know, my mom is a very new beast cancer survivor.  She faced and beat it this year and is my super hero!  When I saw this challenge at Ike's and he offered this amazing free image I had to get up the nerve to try something else new and enter!  Breast Cancer Awareness is a cause that I am so wanting to support and help spread the word to all women.  I entered a piece on the Smeared and Smudged 31 Days of Halloween early in the event and asked my salon to put it on the front desk as a reminder to their customers to check themselves and be aware.  I stared at this image for an hour with a blank mind and I looked at my colored pencils and it hit me to color her in a hue of every color pencil that I have.  Because this disease affects all women...no one is exempt.  So my theme was there "Breast Cancer Knows NO Color Boundaries".  My only hope is one woman sees this and adds self-exams and/or mammograms to their vocabulary and lifestyle!
This totally dedicated to my wonderful, strong, loving mama!  She taught me the meaning of strength and endurance of overwhelming illness.  So this is for you, Mama, our survivor!!

Supplies:
Ike's awesome, wonderful freebie image
Large box
White oil paint
Red oil paint
Large paint brush
Scrapbook paper from my stash
Embellishments from my stash (ribbon, little bottle of gold flakes, etc.)
Fine tip markers in various colors
Dimensional Magic to gloss her eyes, lips, and nails
Glue

Colored magnificent image with black , brown, red, and blue markers and colored pencils in many different colors.  I mixed cad red medium and titanium white oil paints to get a multi-pink color and painted the box front.  Let dry.  Fussy cut the image and glued her to the box leaving room for my design for the sentiment.  I had some sheets of paper with predominately pink hued dots with some other colors and hand wrote each letter on a circle for the sentiment except the word "boundaries".  I also hand wrote the phrases and words I wanted on mini dominoes inked and the written on, different paper cut outs, and shapes.  I hand wrote them instead of printing them out because I wanted a very personal feel to the canvas.  I glued some glitter foam dots in pink, blue, and green and stuck a pink paper curl under a pink dot in her hair.  Other embellishments are a little bottle of glitter flakes with pink ribbon, a couple different ribbons, a crystal, tiny white rose, some clip art, and some punched hearts to spell "love".  That all glued down and it was finished.  Hope it fits the challenge and can help awareness!!

My precious grandpuppy, Yoshi! He went through gastrointestinal surgery for an obstruction in August and almost didn't make it. It is now November and he is doing so well just can't eat hard food:( But I love mushing his food twice a day and feeding my beautiful baby boy:)
