Smeared and Smudged February Blog Hop Cracked and Broken

Hi, my friends!  This month's hop theme is "Cracked and Broken" at Smeared and Smudged.  I had 2 ideas for separate things that I have had hanging around here for months.  And they came together in my head for this theme!  It is a shaker box filled with cracked, red glass.  The red glass came from a wonderful lamp that I was totally  pissed when it broke but immediately thought pieces of a broken heart.  Oh, the maze of a crafter's mind!  The red riding hood image had been completed made from a makeup kit box that had a little window.  But she was just incomplete waiting for something.  And the glass was it.  My connection to the theme is that sometimes our tough exteriors come from broken pieces of ourselves...be it heart, image, whatever.  Deep thought for me, huh?  She is colored with Bic Mark Its and the background is scrapbook paper from the "Once Upon a Time" stack and the edges were inked with black and brown markers in places.  I colored the clear plastic inside of the window with a brown marker not going for full or even coverage....our insides or not evenly colored at least I don't think so:)  The sentiment is from Tim  Holthz's alphabet pad stuck on white paper and inked.  Then a hammer and a napkin and breaking the glass in small pieces to add!  Another simple project but this one took a couple months from start to finish.   Off to our next blog and leave some love...it keeps the wrinkles away from crafter's faces!  True fact!  No, not really but wouldn't it be great!

Happy crafting!

What an original idea Nan. Sometimes projects do take ages to 'come together', but it is always worth the wait to find the right combination. Love your broken glass in the shaker - perfect interpretation for the theme x

Nan love this, I have to admit when I first saw it I thought Red had cracked her head open all over the place that glass makes perfect pieces of bloody skull LOL So glad you was able to use your lamp in this piece rather than just being sad it was broken x

Wonderful shaker Nan... a couple of months in the making? Thats not long really... i have unfinished projects laying around for a couple of years.. just waiting for the right finishing touches.... sorry you broke your lamp, but you have given it new life ... in a far more unique and original way... RIP lamp ... long live embellishments! I look forward to seeing more of the lamp remains in the future :) BDx

Thanks BD! At least I know not to throw away those projects that just don't zing at the moment now. Yes, you gotta break some lamps in the cause of embellishments...lol!

My precious grandpuppy, Yoshi! He went through gastrointestinal surgery for an obstruction in August and almost didn't make it. It is now November and he is doing so well just can't eat hard food:( But I love mushing his food twice a day and feeding my beautiful baby boy:)
